Casper Star Tribune: New baseball team, volleyball event need Casper’s support

Casper-area sports fans have two good reasons to be excited: a new home baseball team to root for and yet another championship event.

On Monday, officials announced that Casper will host the National Junior College Athletic Association’s women’s volleyball championship from 2013-15.

Meanwhile, on Thursday the Casper Cutthroats, a new team formed to compete in the Mountain Collegiate Baseball League, outlined its plan to play a 40-game season.

Both will add to the sporting events and teams that already call Casper home, including the Casper Cavalry football team and the College National Finals Rodeo.

First to debut will be the baseball team, which unveiled a pretty cool logo (a trout with a baseball in its mouth, jumping out of a “C”) at a news conference at the Casper Events Center.
